I happened to watch the 1954 classic movie “Sabrina” with Audrey Hepburn the other night. The Givenchy fashion was amazing throughout the movie but my favorite was the black and white ball gown.

The newest wedding trend for 2010 is the black and white themed wedding. Could this be homage to Audrey? I love the elegance of black and white. The men will look fantastic in their tuxedos and I would love to see the groom in a white tuxedo jacket with black tuxedo pants, very Humphrey Bogart.

Your bridesmaids will love you as what better dress to compliment your gown than the little black dress and they can wear it AGAIN! They can go short or long and you could have the girls choose from in a variety of black dresses that best suit their shapes. I would like to see the girls in black strapless, full skirted tea length dress by dresses with white long gloves and pointed toe pumps to keep in line with my Sabrina dress by theme.

Today’s bride will have a hard time deciding on a black and white dress as there are multiple choices this season. Check out some of these strapless beauties on the right.

So you have chosen the dress, your groom is set, and the wedding party is good to go. So what about your wedding mages, invitations, flowers, wedding favors, and THE cake?

Your black and white theme can translate beautifully with black and white photography – these are images that will make a gorgeous wedding album as well as artwork for the walls of your home. I have seen some of the most beautiful wedding images in black and white.

The wedding invitations will be striking in a reverse background with white lettering or a black and white print pattern.

What I like about a black and white backdrop is that the sky’s the limit on colors when choosing your flowers and floral arrangements. I love the color red and red roses would be my first choice, so romantic and a compliment to the graphic statement of black and white. Solid white, pink, light blue, and yellow flowers will work and make a statement as well.

I love the simple, elegant table setting as shown in the picture that will work with any of your floral arrangement color choices. The chair covers really add a level of sophistication.

I thought these bride and groom table place cards were great. You can determine family and friends seating arrangements in a very creative way.

Another creative find are these favor boxes that are fun and why not add the chocolate covered bride and groom strawberries or truffles as the favor inside!

I also liked the wedding mints as favor options to keep with the theme.

Wedding cakes have reached an art form and it is amazing what these talented artists achieve with a little sugar, water and fondant. I really like these options as creative alternatives to the basic wedding cake.

So your details are now all set for your trendy, fabulous, elegant, sophisticated black and white wedding.

  2. Mhm, I like all the decorations in black and white but the wedding gown in black and white
is not my cup of tea. Maybe I am a little conservative. It is a matter of taste and culture.
