Women think it’s easy to pick a man’s wedding band, but for most men, a wedding band is going to be the hardest thing in the world for them to wear. It’s not because they’re afraid to get married; it’s because for many men, it’ll be the first time they’ve actually worn a ring at all.
Sure, men have probably gotten other rings. If they graduated from either high school or college, they had the opportunity to purchase and wear a graduation ring. However, most men who order these rings get them, and then decide it just doesn’t fit who they are or it’s just not an everyday ring. Rings, if you’re not used to them, can feel confining, and oddly enough, it’s hard to get used to the weight, minimal as it is. Men’s rings can weigh more than women’s rings, as they’re usually thicker, and adding some kind of stone to them can make a man feel uncomfortable wearing it. That, and if it’s not fitted well, and there’s a stone in it, the stone spins around, and sometimes ends up in the man’s hand, which most men aren’t too fond of.
With that in mind, if a woman goes to buy a ring for a man without him, she needs to take certain things into consideration beforehand. One, does her man already wear a ring? If so, she’ll usually have some kind of idea of what he might like, unless it’s a school ring. At least she knows he’s used to wearing a ring, and that always makes choosing a ring easier to handle.
If her man has never worn a ring, and isn’t wearing one now, it’s going to be a challenge. Women need to figure out ways to get their men to go to a couple of jewelry stores so she can get some kind of idea of what he may wear, and a ring size. The best way to do that is to get him to a mall, where, usually, there are a number of jewelry stores you’ll walk by, and it’s easier to get him to come over and take a look at them. If you make it a game of some sort, you’ll even get him to sit down and let someone take a measurement. Men know they’re going to be expected to wear a wedding ring, so it shouldn’t be all that difficult.
The most common option, for most men, is to get a smooth ring with no jewels on it and often without a pattern. Some men will find a pattern they think is cool, and that may encourage them to wear the ring more often. Some men actually like diamonds, but mainly go for channel sets, which mean the stones are flat and they can’t hurt themselves. But the majority of rings sold for men are solid, smooth, plain gold rings.
There’s nothing wrong with that, as long as the potential groom is going to wear the ring. And it saves you money that you can spend on something else!

True! Personally i will like to wear a ring that suits my personality and my dressing sense. Keeping in mind these points may help a lady find that perfect ring for his man. If your guy is too fussy about things you need take his consideration before buying anything. Ring studded with diamonds and stone that are flat also look good. Then there are rings with name or small messages inscribed in it which also look very decent and stylish. Usually their is whole fuss about the women jewelry but yes finding a right ring for your man is equally important.
I think is women think that its easy to find a right band for their mates they are pretty mistaken. Its 21st century where guys are so much more conscious about their looks than ever before.Nowadays groom groom themselves so well and they are so particular about everything they wear and of course wedding band is such an important part of their existence if they are married. So girls better take into consideration the looks and personality of your “to be spouse” before buying a wedding band for him.
For most men, wedding band advice is pretty basic – keep it simple, and consider a metal that will last. Platinum and palladium are naturally white, while white gold turns yellow over time. And when you scratch platinum, it does not lose much mass. A platinum wedding band or wedding ring can be refinished over and over. Platinum is definitely worth the investment. And palladium is a better choice over white gold if platinum is not an option.
If you are looking for an alternative metal, keep in mind that while titanium and tungsten both look pretty sleek, they can not be sized. So stay away from those all you can eat buffets!

Very well thought out and presented article.
My wedding band was so loose the day we got it that it would literally fall off whenever I washed my hands. I wish that my wife had this article when she got my band!!
I personally never was afraid to get married, in fact, I was at the age my big dream was to have family and wife so the ring had no negative effect on me at all. Simply put – if you love your partner, it is a big joy to get married together. BTW, our rings are the same- 3 color gold, and we love it.
Nice share!
I agree with your idea, men dont wear ring…
so it will be not easy for them to wear one for the first time
When I bought my wedding band in 1993 there weren’t nearly as many designers as there are now. Much better selection of updated/modern looking stuff now.
It is true that often men do not like to wear rings, If choosing a ring for a man, comfort is a major factor that should be kept in mind. I also believe that a simple design is best with a metal that can take a little abuse and still look good such as platinum.

I think discussing the subject of men’s rings is very relevant these days as more and more men are becoming ‘jewellery aware’ and often want more than ‘nothing at all’ or a plain old band. The choice of metals makes things interesting too and platinum seems to be a firm favorite, I say, take him with you and let him see what’s out there

Things have changed and its not like earlier days when men hated wearing jewelry stuffs. A lot of men wear chain, ring, bracelets, etc. the thing is as mentioned above in the post, they should be plain with no stone and comfortable to wear cos stones make men uncomfortable. And platinum is the most preferred by men. Good tips there.

I have mixed feelings about this. I think the plain bands often look better on men though. Even the rings like the Mason’s Rings, Armed Services Rings and other jewelry looks pretty awkward on a man’s hand. For the women, diamonds may be their best friends but most men should heed your advice and stay away from the stones.
